Letter of intent

January 30, 2011
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Natalie Shabtai I am 27 years old, born and raised in Jerusalem, Israel.  For as long as I can remember, I have always been intrigued with three dimensional forms, shapes, colours, and materials. Over time, I have come to be profoundly drawn to the world of arts and aesthetics, and it was in the field of design that I found the ultimate combination between the mechanic and the aesthetic.  Throughout most of my life I’ve been interested in industrial and interior design and after completing my military service I travelled around the world, intrigued by the different cultures and incredible arts. This was the deciding factor which caused me to pursue my dream and study art and design.
Today, in my 4th year in Shenkar, I am constantly exposed to the never ending pool of knowledge and techniques. These enrich my creativity and enable me to express my rich internal world and my unique way of translating thoughts, statements, and concepts into form. Throughout my studies I have incorporated my skills with an endless hunger for knowledge, open mindedness, strict work ethics and practical training. I have learned above all that I am part of the designing community which is characterized by endless resources of knowledge and creativity, and I want to experience as much as I can in order to be the best at what I do.
Above all my motto is, and always has been, to expand my limits and work with no fear. I always search for new materials and forms, examining how to work with them and how to break their rules in order to create new ones. I do not shy away from challenges; on the contrary, I pursue them in order to grow as a person and an artist.
After my graduation from Shenkar my intention is to continue studying abroad in order to obtain a graduate level degree. Eventually I want to have my own, independent label and to create my unique designs for a living and as a way of life.
I would love to receive a chance to take part in this internship since I see it as an amazing experience that will not only enrich my professional knowledge but will also contribute to my working and interpersonal skills within the professional industry. I think I am an excellent candidate for this position because I tend to think outside the box and favour new ideas in order to test artistic limits. I am a hard worker and a team player and I take pleasure in working with new people and in new environments. I appreciate being a candidate for this position and would like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Natalie Shabtai
